Hello, I am Sean Cannon, a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) being supervised by Cole Awdish LPC. I live in Durango, and grew up near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I am an avid Philly sports fan, a gamer, and spend a lot of time outside.
I work with all ages (Kids, Teens, Adults) and Families promoting self-understanding, fostering a sense of safety, and deepening connections. I integrate Parts work to build a more compassionate and caring lens toward the pieces of yourself that served once but may not now. My foundations utilize Cognitive Behavioral techniques, mindfulness, and guided imagery to bridge together emotional experiencing, cognitive flexibility and bodily sensing. I am in the midst of training for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and am able to provide EMDR services.
I specialize in working with the tech integrated generation and their families. Supporting redefining relationships and boundaries whether it is video games, social media, or something else we can take the time to explore the complicated dynamics at play and find a path forward.
Education and Experience
I have a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from New Mexico Highlands University.
I have a BS in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management from Pennsylvania State University.
Since Undergrad, I have worked in team building facilitation, environmental interpretation, outdoor education. Working to connect others to themselves, others, and nature. Doing so eventually brought me to the understanding I wanted to be doing exactly what I am now.
